This beautiful pup is CENA. She is thought to be an Anatolian Shepherd. CENA is about 3 months of age. She weighs close to 25#. She will be a large breed adult dog possibly over 80#. She is a beautiful cream color with the black facial markings and 4 white feet.
These are intelligent, calm and gentle dogs but they were bred to be livestock guardians.
The Anatolian Shepherd Dog is a large and powerful dog, and as such is not suited for everyone. They were bred for hundreds, if not thousands of years in their native Turkey as Livestock Guardians for the flocks of semi-nomadic shepherds. Their natural foes included wolves, bears, and wild boar.
Livestock guarding dogs, in all parts of the Old World, where they were bred, needed to be able to think and act quickly and independently to protect their flocks. This ability was highly valuable to the shepherds and therefore selected for. That same ability, coupled with his strength and size, can make the Anatolian more challenging to own than the average breed of dog.
It takes dedication and commitment to work with this independent breed. A family wanting a Anatolian MUST be experience dog owners. This is not the breed for first time dog owners in any way. The people in the family, must be pack leaders and be able to take charge of the dog. By doing so the dog will be the follower and also a protector of the family. Please be sure to read all about ASDs before considering adopting one! These large dogs need a large yard and/or long, multiple walks each day to keep them happy, healthy, and out of trouble! A well exercised dog is a more pleasant dog to have in the home.
CENA is little shy but so loving and friendly. She is enjoying playing with the other dogs.
This breed of dog does better in a home with no other dogs or if there is an existing dog, it needs to be a male.
Since CENA will be a fast growing large puppy, she might knock a toddler over so a home with children able to handle a puppy and being bumped by them is needed. Please understand this.
A very secure fenced (not invisible fencing) yard is MANDATORY!! These dogs will walk the boundaries of their property and this is what they protect. CENA is too young to be spayed, so you will need to provide a prepaid spay receipt from your veterinarian at time of adoption. She will be vaccinated, wormed, Flea and Tick treatment applied and micro-chipped at time of adoption.
Adoption fee for CENA is $300. FOR ADOPTION APPLICATION PLEASE EMAIL....lifesaversrescue@live.com
