About Daniel

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Housetrained: Yes
ATTENTION.... this dog is located in Yakima, Washington and is a courtesy post for Lifesavers Rescue. This gentle soul is DANIEL. He is a fawn colored Doberman. DANIEL is about 2 to 2 1/2 years of age said the Veterinarian. DANIEL weighs 59# and is about 24" tall. He was found as a stray with another large dog trying to survive out in the country on the reservation. He was very thin, malnourished, filthy and his hair coat is brittle, coarse and dry which is a sign of not being fed good feed, starving, and too much time in the elements. Dobe's are NOT dogs that do well in extreme hot or cold weather as they don't have the hair coats for this. They must have adequate shelter and should be inside as a member of the family. The Doberman breed are not known to shed much. They do require quality dog kibble and often times extra supplements for their hair coats to be like velvet and shiny. Brushing every few weeks helps maintain their coat. DANIEL is SUCH a kind, easy going dog. He is a quick learner. He is socialized with all kinds of other dogs, male and female, big and small, young and older and does very well with them. I have seen no signs of food or social aggression in him. DANIEL travels well in a car or truck, he minds very well in public, is good on a leash and knows to come and sit. Somewhere along the line someone worked with him. He SO wants to be inside with humans and this is a trait in the Dobe breed....they much prefer human company to being left alone outside. DANIEL acts like a puppy and loves to play with the other dogs. He would do well as the only dog in the home or with another dog to play and romp with. Dobermans are active dogs and some kind of daily exercise is needed...so someone who is already a walker or jogger would be ideal for DANIEL. He is not hyper. DANIEL will be neutered, micro-chipped, current with vaccines and Rabies and de-wormed before adoption. He is healthy at this point although too thin and his hair coat and skin are not in good condition but will continue to improve with the food he is getting, medicated baths and TLC. DANIEL is the type of dog we in rescue get in that we can't figure out why he was left to survive on his own and would love to be able to keep. He is truly "DANIEL...the diamond in the rough". Since I don't know his history with children there probably shouldn't be children under about 12 in the home. I have a feeling he would be very good with children but I just don't know for sure and don't have children in our home to expose him to...nor cats. A fenced yard is mandatory!! PLEASE consider DANIEL in your search for a new companion. He would add enjoyment to your life as your best fur friend. FOR ADOPTION APPLICATION PLEASE EMAIL: lifesaversrescue@live.com Please be serious about adopting when inquiring on DANIEL. DO NOT CONTACT COLLAR OF HOPE REGARDING THIS DOG.... PLEASE EMAIL LIFESAVERS
